馬齒莧 herba portulacae

冬日觀鳥,週末到了塱原,從燕崗走到河上鄉。一路不少田都宣示生命力,主要種菜,實在開心。

the past sunday, went for birding at long valley. we started from ying kong and route to ho sheung heung. the farming lots in the area are thriving. what a happy scene.

行程初,走入田野前,在村路一角,看到這欣喜的黃色。似是野生的。回來查書方知道是馬齒莧。

before we started heading out, in the corner of the village roads, some joy yellow greeted me. they are herba portulacae.

中國、臺灣的網站,都有豐富資料說馬齒莧的食用和藥用:

夏秋期間採集馬齒莧幼嫩多汁的莖,除去鬚根,洗淨後用沸水煮熟,再用鹽漬一下,冷開水洗淨,擠乾水分即可。馬齒莧可涼拌,也可烹炒、做羹湯,鮮美可口,脆潤柔嫩。《新華網》

馬齒莧葉青、梗赤、花黃、根白、子黑,故又稱「五行草」。古籍如《本草綱目》(「散血消腫,利腸滑胎,解毒通淋、治產后虛汗」)早有記載。民間又稱「長壽菜」。

herba portulacae is popular with the chinese. there is abundant information on the recipes and medical value of this plant –  having it fried or making soup, or because of is succulence, good for cold dish too; and ancient chinese herbal bible has record of this plant.

一年生小型肉質草本植物。莖下部匍匐,上部略能直立。全體光滑無毛。倒卵狀楔形葉子對生。

it is an annual herb. it is half creeping and all smooth and hairless. the chinese also gave it the name of the plant of five element because its leaves are green, the stem red, flower yellow, root white and seed black.
