in this blog, we have seen tree cotton bare its leaves in winter and the red blossom extravaganza in spring. now it’s the turn of its fruit.
it produces capsules in late spring to early summer. when ripe, the fruit bursts and seeds blown out together with the white fibres that are part of the cell of the inside wall of the capsule. the seeds should take the centre stage of the life of this plant, but i am just fascinated by the fluffy thick creamy “cotton”.
