鴨腳木 ivy tree (schefflera heptaphylla)

鴨腳木是香港尋常的樹種。每年入冬,頓感其美妙。

鴨腳木蠻漂亮,她的掌狀複葉,她的常綠;而且植物很多部分都有用,但本城的人對她注目甚少。替她不值。

ivy tree is native to south china and is very common in the countrysides of hong kong. it is a pretty plant: evergreen, the palmately compound leaves, a plant of many usages to human; a pity that not many local people know to appreciate.

進入秋天,便是花季。淡黃小花一發不可收拾,頭狀之總狀花序猶如繁鬧的煙花焰球,而色彩中有種嫺靜。人們不知寶,蜜蜂蝴蝶卻趕忙膜拜。

ivy tree turns really attractive starting autumn. that’s the flowering season. rich creamy yellow florets come to an explosion. it is busy but quiet. it is like a firework extravaganza but not choking. the best part is that bees and butterflies all invite themselves to the parties.

寶藏一而且是很大的寶,冬蜜之源。冬天開花的植物不多,所以冬蜜很多時來自鴨腳木的花蜜。其蜜據說有不少療效:治鼻敏感、減少感冒機會。

花滿足了昆蟲,而後結果,飽足了鳥兒小動物。

鴨腳木原生於亞洲包括南中國,是廣東涼茶二十四味成分之一。網上並有引用胡秀英博士說:鴨腳木具有廣泛的補益作用,宜發展為廣東人蔘。事實上兩者同屬五加科Araliaceae,說法蠻有見地。
