剛查閱一些台灣的網站，藍花楹有另一俗名 － 紫雲木。覺得此名很貼切香港此樹種。
spring is always intense for flower lovers. spider trees’ flowers are just turning from white and yellow to golden, jacaranda waste no time splash colour lavender on the plant map of this city.
jacaranda is native to south america. perhaps this is why the trees take a different presentation. i saw photos of jacaranda bloom in brazil and australia. they are elizabeth taylor, dazzlingly beautiful. jacaranda here are more soft-spoken. flowers still bloom in dense clusters but the pale lavender / blue are attractive in a subtle way. they even look almost transparent in bright sunlight.
luckily i caught these blooming jacaranda at victoria park few days ago during overcast weather. dashes of lavender mist dangling in the grey atmosphere – a picture all about melancholy.
one botanic observation i have to add. usually the flowers and fruit seasons are separated for this species. but you can see many capsules sharing the branches with the flowers with these trees. is it the outcome of climate change (again)?
