海埔姜 /單葉蔓荊 beach vitex (vitex rotundifolia)

香港的海岸植物,熟悉的有草海桐、黃槿、假菠蘿,最近認識了另一種。十一月底在東平洲正值開花時候,藍紫色唇形花,也有漂亮的葉,海埔姜 /單葉蔓荊 是也。 網上資料蒐集,有豐富的資源,美國、台灣、香港的植物網站都有記載。這多年生匍匐灌木,有指是夏威夷的本土植物,也有說原生於亞洲與澳洲。 中藥界以其果入藥,稱為「蔓荊子」。巧美的葉片,也成為人類的口腹之物,曬乾製成「埔姜茶」。還是將焦點回歸植物本身,葉的形態細膩精美:單葉對生,葉片倒卵形,頂端鈍圓,基部楔形,葉背灰白。頂生花序,藍紫色唇形花冠.。同場可見開始成熟的果子。此植物適應在沙質的土壤生長。  learnt about a species of coastal plant from a trip down at tung peng chou in late november. drawn by the pretty match of the delicate appearance of the leaves and blossoms of this sprawling shrub. description of the plant, quoting from missouribotanicalgarden.org, “broad-oblong to suborbicular leaves are blue green... 銀樺與紅花銀樺 silky oak and red silky oak

這陣子兩種銀樺均在爆發。實在覺得她們的花朵和果實色彩和型態很吸引。 這兩個近親原籍澳洲。銀樺原生昆士蘭及新南威爾斯等地區,而紅花銀樺原產地就是昆士蘭,大概因此又稱昆士蘭銀樺。 兩者都是引入品種,銀樺該比較長時間了,所以較多見,也會發現接近野生型態的。銀樺與紅花銀樺也有大小的差別,後者屬大型灌木,前者則是高大的喬木。 have spotted the two silky oaks booming lately. the silky oak and red silky oak are both australian natives. perhaps the latter specifically originated from queensland, it also has a chinese common name queensland silky oak. we see silky oak more in hong kong, so i am making the assumption that it...
