九龍公園植物筆記 2016.5.29 kowloon park plant notes

白楸的花 turn-in-the-wind blooms

這陣子走到山邊、郊外,都會看到白楸正值花季。花沒有開出奪目的色彩,但每棵樹都沉淡地綻放熱鬧滿樹的花。 白楸是本地原生小型喬木,花雌雄異株。白黃色細小花朵密集組成(總狀)花序生於枝頂(頂生),映照不太壯大的樹身,感覺濃郁喧鬧。 快到你身邊的綠地方,應該不難看到白楸,欣賞一下這種低調但強烈的植物季候景致。 同時,讓你參考年前10月寫過白楸的果 - 《白楸的果 turn-in-the-wind and there are fruit》,準備接下來這物種的果季。 turn-in-the-wind is common in and native to hong kong. it is its flowering season now. you won’t miss it even though there is no bright colour. small yellowish white flowers build dense towers at tips of branches, or flowers in terminal, branched racemes in... 血桐 elephant’s ear (macaranga tanarius)

日常經過的路段,近幾個星期看著周邊的血桐看花開得燦爛,興起寫寫他念頭。 回到檯頭,翻查看看,原來還沒有正式寫過這種香港處處可見的常綠喬木。 血桐是本土樹,在廣東、台灣原生。 this evergreen tree is so commonly seen in hong kong that i almost forgot to feature it here. but for the past few weeks it has been reminding me by its explosive blooming and fruiting extravaganza, i feel sorry that i did not introduce it here earlier. 血桐在香港隨處可見,就算你完全不認識此植物,實在有很多特色幫助你記得他的。 先是名字。「血」的由來:當枝條折斷,樹液出現,經氧化後變紅,狀似流血。而我最初對這植物產生好感,是因為可愛的英文俗名「elephant's ear 象耳朵」,馬上會聯想到陳年電影卡通《小飛象》的可愛模樣。 macaranga... 香港木油桐花樹 wood-oil tree – tung blossoms – in hong kong

2012年4月寫過九龍公園的桐花,這兩年到了這時節(台灣媒體、旅遊推廣都鬧著“桐花節”的季度)都見該文章閱讀率高升。湊巧上星期在兵頭花園「發現」有棵木油(從前看不到樹牌,以為那是梧桐樹)。對這植物再了解的興致隨之炒高。 one of the biggest individual flower festivals in taiwan is happening right now. it is the tung blossom festival. as taiwan is getting really hot among hong kongers in recent years, more people is aware of this plant. i seem to benefit from this increasing awareness. i first met this plant in kowloon park...
